Reclaiming PPI - Never done this before

Hey

I've been recommended to reclaim PPI by my friends and family.
I wasn't going to bother until I searched online and found many people have been refunded 1000's etc.

I am trying to reclaim by myself and have a rough idea how to do it.

1)First gather info about *all* present/previous credit cards, loans, mortgages etc.
2)Send complaint letters to each of the bank companies regarding re claiming PPI.
3)If you're lucky the bank will tend to your complaint and refund you a check. However if they disagree then I should write to the higher company beginning with 'O'.

I could not remember all my previous loans etc so I paid 2 pounds for my credit report on 'CallCredit'

It's successfully listed every loan etc but not all 'Value of Cash Advances' are available.

I have even spotted 2 one off payments. But I'm sure there could be more. I cannot however find these. As you go down the list it reads 'N/A'

Do I have to phone all the companies on my credit report and ask if I've been sold PPI? Or is there another way to find this ? As the credit report from website 'Credit Loan' doesn't identify every information.

Thank you for reading this

You're missing one crucial point. First of all you must have a reason why you believe you were mis-sold PPI, for each of your credit cards, loans, mortgages etc. Just having PPI is not the issue, it needs to have been mis-sold. You can ring and ask them if you had PPI, depending on the age of the account they may be able to tell. Alternatively you can send an SAR letter to each of the banks. The banks will then have to send you all of the records they hold for you. The banks do not have to keep records beyond about 6 years but often do. This will give you more detailed information than your credit report. an SAR costs £10 and the banks have 40 days to respond in full. Here's the link........
