EON gas and electricity

Hi,

Me and my partner moved into a 2 bed terraced house in March, before this we were living with his parents, saving, so first time we're paying bills etc. so just got a quick question!

We've just got out EON bill for the first months gas and electric ad its come to £54.56. They have the correct meter readings as I have inputted them myself online! Before we moved in we did research and budgeted £100-£150 a month for gas and electric so feel the price quoted is too little? I was going to ring them up tomorrow but thought I'd check on here first. I just don't want to get into the situation when I've been undercharged and they want me to pay a lump sum!

We both work during the day during the week, only put heating on if needed for an hour or so but we usually have TV on all evening. Does this price seem about right?

Thanks in advance!

Are you on monthly billing? Whatever, well done for submitting reads. It's a little soon to worry. The important thing is that the readings on the bill are the readings you submitted and close to the readings on the meter today. Keep an eye on the meter readings monthly.

I cannot say whether £54.56 is right but its very possible for spring. You will use much more in winter, as much as 80% of annual heating fuel consumption from October to March so you still need to budget for winter. If you are out working, have gas heating and are careful with the heating, £100 per month over the year should be an adequate budget.

Beware estimates. If you ever get an estimated bill submit customer reads and the bill will be replaced with the customer reads. Good luck and keep your eye on the meter readings and bills.

You can easily double that for the winter months. Then average over a year and you won't be far off your original estimates. Keep an eye on it month by month, but all seems OK so far.

electric dial meters ( 6 rotating dials) are very easy to get wrong, and gas meters which are billed incorrectly with the metric/imperial mix up, also dual rate electric meters billed transposed are the meter reading pitfalls I constantly come accross. I agree, the monthly bill does seem too low. I live in a two bed terrace and I am out at work 6 days a week and I pay more than that a month

    Hi rokat,

Thanks to the guys for good info already :T

I would also like to say well done for submitting your own meter readings and keeping track of your bills :D

There are a couple of things that you can check to ensure the bill is correct

When you moved in you will have contacted us with your details and your first meter readings. Do these start readings match those on the bill?

Are the readings you submitted used to produce the bill too?

Do you have dial meters? these can be easy to misread.

Do you have a 4 or 5 dial gas meter? is this correct on the bill.

If you need someone to check over the bill and your account, I will be more than happy to help you.

Just drop your details to the email address in my profile page and I will take a look for you :)

    Helena :)
