Astra GTC
Options
I took delivery of a new Pre-reged Astra GTC yesterday, 10 miles on the clock ,drove away the car noticed the brakes were very spongie, now done over 200 miles and they haven't improved.
A few presses of the brake pedal and it firms up.I would say there is air in the system and they haven't been bled properly.
Who is responsible to fix this ,the main Vauxall dealer or Arnold Clark who I purchased from.

They'll need bedding in first I guess.0

... and then, as the vehicle will have a manufacturer's warranty, if the fault still persists any Vauxhall dealer will happily carry out any repairs necessary free of charge"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Get it done asap as if it is just bleeding etc needed, it is likely to be classed as an 'adjustment'. Can't recall specifically for Vauxhall, but most manufacturers will charge after 2k, unless of course there's a faulty part.0

Arnold Clark told me to take it to the main Vauxhall dealer Peter Vardy,Aberdeen.
Went for a test drive with one of their guys,he said they probably couldn't improve on the way the brakes were but said they would give them a bleed anyway.
Sat in the waiting area for 45 minutes then a different guy gave me my keys back and said they couldn't fault the brakes.
I asked if they had bled the brakes he said no,as they couldn't fault them.
So apparently it is normal for the new Astra cars to have very spongy brakes and the first press of the brake pedal nearly going to the floor.0
