Patio Fruit Trees

Hi,
I am thinking of planting some fruit trees in patio pots this year. Maybe apples, pears, even cherries. The Ballerina types sound ideal for me, but has anyone had any experience of growing these, or any tips which might help.
It's one thing reading about a subject, but nothing beats personal experience!

Most trees sold in the big multiples as having the right properties will do the job well. I've been growing apples in pots for a while now and as long as you train them if you want a particular shape and don't let the main stem become a trunk, you'll be fine. I've started growing a cherry (stella) this year and am bending the branches to train it to be a small tree, albeit in a raised bed rather than a pot.
The basic advice is, try it and see, there's not a lot that you can do wrong with them.0 -
Good advice BG, I have a dwarf root stock Ashmead Kernal in a tub, all be it a huge one. Its lovely, and would highly recommend them. I have bulbs in the tub with it, and at the moment it is full of daffs and hyacinths as well as it being in full blossom, so its a picture!
You must remember to feed them being in a pot, and top dress it every year.
I am also toying with the idea of getting a cherry.0
