Mark I honestly think you should get a different engineer out for a second opinion and point out to him that you are also waiting on a manufacturer visit. It cannot be unfit for purpose after 2 years and if you get fobbed off I would suggest trading standards, I sincerely hope this is a misdiagnosis rather than a company line.0

If they said you never had a powerflush so you don't have a guarantee then providing that you didn't refuse a powerflush when it was fitted then I would say that they are liable no matter what they say. It's not for you to know that your system needed any more than they advised.
Sorry for adding confusion about the sludge. A powerflush from what I understand is only to remove sludge and waste build up after years of use. The power cleanse you had should of removed any corrosive elements in the system.
It might be worth speaking to trading standards.0 -
Power Flush - Power Cleanse ?
BG should be asked to explain exactly what a Powercleanse is, what chemicals are involved and how it differs from a Powerflush
A powerflush is a 2 stage process, with the first useing a corrosive cocktail that breaks down any lumped sludge - This treatment should remain in the system no longer than 48 hours, and it's vital that all traces of it are flushed out of the entire central heating system with pure water before any sludge inhibiters are added.0 -
Hi All

I won't fit any new boiler without a powerflush, especially an old back boiler, as they are usually the dirtiest systems.
Not doing a powerflush opens one up to the scenario you now have.
A powerflush is an expensive procedure, but not when done at the time of the new boiler installation. I also always fit a magnetic cleansing device at the same time.
Other than the above, there is nothing that can be added to what Ollski has posted.0
