School Term Contract - Any benefits available?

I am contracted to work 5days/wk during school term time and have 20days annual leave. This leave me with 10 weeks unpaid leave a year (or 50days) at my reckoning.
Are there any benefits that i can claim during these periods of unpaid leave?

Is your salary not pro rated so its paid every month?

Typically when working in a school you are paid pro-rata. Which basically means your yearly wage is worked out and divided by weeks in a year so every month(whether it is school holidays or not) you will get paid the same amount.

You will have to do it for yourself then, divide your annual salary by 52, then put aside what extra you get weekly to that figure to assess your monthly budget. It comes to the same. If that isn't enough income, can you look at working in holiday clubs? I know our local ones are always looking for staff.
