I need a robust blog

I currently have a blog on WordPress which runs very well so I set up a second one, on a different topic, using the same WP account (which you can do). However it turns out that it does not figure in any search engine trawls because it is stacked below the original one (put simply ) I confirmed this with them.
So the other day I set up another blog about this second topic, using Tumblr. It set up OK but then when I went back I could not open it. I sent Tumblr a message and their only response was to try using it with different browsers, (I use IE9) but they don't work either.
So I am looking for a decent robust blog that works with IE9 (the reason I have IE9 is because my MS is set to update automatically and it has now arrived at IE9 without any intervention from me).
Anyone care to suggest a compatible blog - it will be mainly text. I am thinking of investigating blogger and blogspot, but want to be sure it will work from the getgo. Any recommendations?

I've been using Blogger for a very long time, and have found it very straight forward, flexible and reliable.
There's some snobbery around about Blogger, and some will tell you it's awful, but it works for me (and millions of others).0
