Large raindrops hitting my window sill. Noise!

Hi,

i have a problem of water drops hitting my hollow window sill when it rains! its makes annoying dripping noise when the water hits the window sill.

I can only assume my roof drainage system is poor/faulty and its allowing water to drip off the roof.

Im unsure who i need to goto for the repair. A plumber?

Is there guttering above the window and if so is it leaking or overflowing?

If yes, you need a guttering company to fix it (not a plumber).

If its just guttering that is overflowing because its blocked or damaged, any Handyman will do thi9s for you. Guttering companies will charge the earth.

I get it on my kitchen window but its due to wind blowing rain on brickwork which runs down and hits the bottom of window sill, in my case its not the drain pipe as I have checked before and lined it with bitumen paint as its cast iron

It could be a leak, it could be blocked guttering or it could be blocked downpipes due to moss and leaves on the roof. That happens on my roof. You can get cages that fit in the top of the downpipe to stop leaves, moss etc from getting into the downpipe and blocking it. The guttering does need clearing every so often.

Is it just the wind blowing the wind against the wall above the window? If so, there's not much you can do about it.
