how do i get insured if i borrow a friends car?

Hi,

i havent had a car of my own since early march 2005 when i was involved in an accident where my car was written off.

My friend has offered to lend me his car for a couple of weeks, but im a bit unsure how i go about getting insurance.

Do i have to be an additional driver on his policy for that time? or do i take out my own policy on the car? What difference will the accident make?

Does it matter that he is a none EU citizen working here for a year?

Thanks

You can either become temporary named driver on his policy or get a short term insurance from https://www.dayinsure.com or similar.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Almost definitely cheaper and easier to be a temporary named driver on his policy.

Your previous accident will likely make it slightly more expensive, but as you are talking about a few weeks, it won't be much worse.

Very few companies will reject a request for a temporary additional driver IMHO.
