Any offers/advice on baby stair gates?

Any offers on baby stair gates?

I think Asda has a baby event on & they really reduce them at the end. Will it be ended before Thursday (as I go to Sharm for 11 days on Thursday).

Any advice in stair gates?
I'm going to be looking after my grandson 1 day a week.

I was thinking a gate with the cups drilled in, then I could put them up & down once a week with no fuss & fill and paint the wall damage when the gate is no longer needed.

I think the pressure fit would mark the wall anyway & be less easy to put up & down quickly & safely.

Maybe one gate & two sets of fittings would be enough?

My personal preferrence is the pressure mounted gate. I didnt like drilling my walls to fit the gates....

The other reason I liked the pressure mounted ones was that if need be I was able to remove them from the stair area and use them elsewhere - accross a door way between the sitting room and kitchen if I was cooking etc.

Kiddicare.com have a good selection of gates which are quite reasonably priced. I always used the lindam brand and was very happy with them.

I'm another one who prefers the pressure fitted ones, less unsightly marks left on your walls where you've drilled and you can move them about as and when you need to.

i have 4 kids and over the years have used various gates. i would say go for the fixed ones, the pressure ones can easily be pushed out of place by a determined toddler.lol

I was worried I might not get enough tension with the pressure fit ones (small weak hands) & they would be more dangerous that nothing if he was leaning against one at the top of the stairs.

I thought one gate & two sets of cups would be ideal?

Also double check that the gate you buy is suitable for the width of your doors- I bought 2 Lindam pressure fit gates from Asda in their sale a couple of years ago & ended up having to buy the extensions @ £10 each.
    I didn't think I had wide door frames :o

If you can find them - the ones that you open one-handed are much better than the more common ones. A house I tutor at has a one where you just squeeze the handle up and it opens - much better than the one we have on the kitchen door where you've got to squeeze two buttons together and then lift the handle - especially when holding a baby in one hand... haven't been able to find the one that's easier to open anywhere when I've been looking though.
