Nice hotel, well it was in 2006. Dont know about rooms overlooking the runway. We flew with Virgin and were able to check in the night before around 9pm. Connected to the airport so you just walk through to the terminal.

Not overlooking the runway really, IIRC, you can normally see planes taking off & coming in to land depending on wind direction though. Does depend on whether you get a room with windows facing out rather than into one of the inner courtyards.

It's a typical airport hotel, most people will only be staying one night*, so a lot of movements at check in/out. Fairly nice restaurants & bars and the Exec Lounge is good if you have a room or HHonors status to get in.

    * Although we did once have to stay two nights in Dec 2010 due to being snowed in.

  • if your staying in a family room the have the most annoying squeaky metal bunkbeds, drove me mad, !...
they do have a good reasturant doing buffet dinner and breakfast though.

we tend to prefer the sofitel for family rooms but stay at the hilton when we have clubcard vouchers to spend!

that is not a bad rate. I stayed at Christmas for one night, I have to say I found the room pretty ordinary, and it was a deluxe room, also miles from reception, but does the job.
