But then what would be the fun in that :D

Well you'd save yourself 200 quid for a start and have plenty of time to perfect your homemade pasta techniques?

Plus all those nice people in foreign countries wouldn't have to put up with you! ;)

Talking about my homemade pasta lets just stop for a moment in recognition of my skills.

As it happens this prob will be the last year travelling, I mean I've done quite well from it and am so lucky to have had the memories and experiences I have, but I'm exhausted from it Terri. I miss working full time, having a direction.

A few years ago, late one Friday night an intoxicated woman convinced me to write a book. I wrote around 75% of it, but my problem is I can't settle on something and so when I realised it was a bit patronising writing about India having only been to the main tourists places I went back again and ended up in villages no Westerner had ever been to. The problem is the first trip I took, the round the round the world one where we visited so many places but never really lingered, never really got beneath the tourist spots.

The following years have been different as you know and quite often we stray from the tourist spots and have really got our teeth into some of the most amazing countries on the planet, and quite extensively. For example in the Far East including SE Asia the only countries we haven't been to is Taiwan, Korea and the Phillipines. So of course this year we are heading to the Phillipines, in addition to travelling right through the valley of central China and along the Tibetan border into Kazakhstan. In terms of India we are going up into Ladakh and Sikkim and over to Bangladesh. Places seldom visited by Western children and places seen through the eyes of few. We will be heading back to Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore as a matter of course too.

The point I'm trying to make is that you planted a seed some years ago and it is almost coming to fruition, along the way we've had one heck of a ride and like I said I've done quite well from it. The house I bought has been completely renovated, I went from an Audi to a Fiesta and though I'm not back at my old dizzying heights I have a quite respectable and brand new Megane. I gave up a lot for this dream and it's finally coming full circle but were not there yet.

Can you believe the blog has had over 100k hits btw?

So we can agree that your success and future wealth are all down to me then and this is recognition of my skill in pointing you in the right direction? Excellent, don't forget my cut! :D

As for the blog, have you any idea how long it takes me to log in under 100 different identities in order that you think you have some friends? :D

Well chuffed for you mate, I knew you could do it! ;)

Should have thought ahead and got the 48 page passport at the outset then.

India visa say they need two blank pages though I know they only actually use one.

The visa takes up one page and they use the blank page opposite for the immigration stamps - at least they have on all the trips I've made.

If the VFS Global website says you need 2 blank pages, they'd probably reject your application if your passport doesn't have that.

This was what confused me, you see the previous 2 Indian visas Ive had, one was stamped on the page opposite, the other was stamped randomly on a different page. The problem is vfs aren't clear whether the pages need to be opposite each other - One thing they are clear on though is that if for any reason the visa is declined (and the pages issue might be a valid reason for them I don't know) you do not get a refund.

The reality is I'll just have to fork out for 3 new passports :(

Yeah, it's definitely not a good idea to give VFS any reason to reject your Indian visa application.

Maybe it depends on where you enter India as to where they stamp your passport, I've only ever gone through Dabolim and they are meticulous in finding the right visa (I have 6 visas in mine).

I do agree it's annoying to have to renew a passport because it's full when there's still years left on it, I'm in a similar position although mine only has 3 years left to run.

In Shanghai they stamped my passport on the blank page opposite my China visa on entry and the same on departure from Beijing.
