Karndean flooring installation problem

Hi,
I'm a newbie here but hope some of you have some ideas to help. About 5 years ago we had karndean flooring installed in our kitchen, over a concrete subfloor. To our alarm a few of the tiles have started to lift and curl up - in a low traffic area that won't have got wet - it's obvious they have come unstuck. It looks like it might have started happening in a couple of other areas too, as there is a hollow sound when you tap it that isn't evident elsewhere.
From a little reading around this suggests to me that the preparation of the underfloor may not have been carried out properly by our kitchen installer, a local company. I'm guessing that a patch repair isn't going to help much long term. Or that (worse still) we might have some problem under the floor. I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to how we should proceed. I'm assuming karndean wouldn't accept any responsibility. But do you think it is worth pursuing the installer for some help/recompense?
Thanks

Karndean have a long guarantee on their products ( well more than 5 years) but this sounds like a failure of installation rather than the floor and in any event if the floor was not fitted by one of their acredited installers there is plenty of wriggle room.

I'm afraid I can't recall if they were An accredited installer, though I think they were. I guess this might be a decent line of enquiry to take up with them though? Though basically you're suggesting I'm stuffed and we're probably looking at a new floor out of our own pockets:(0

No I'm suggesting a polite enquiry with a smile on your face might yield far greater dividends than a full-on, in your face, accusatory confrontation.
After 5 years I doubt that the installer has any legal obligations in terms of his guaranteed workmanship but there is always goodwill.
You won't know until you try.

Ok thanks... It was probably bad use of "pursuing", I wasn't suggesting confrontation but equally I don't want to be ripped off if I can possibly avoid it.0

Hi,
One other question on this one, since I'm now not feeling too optimistic about either the installer or Karndean accepting any responsibility, is this the kind of thing most buildings insurance ought to cover? I've never had to claim on it before so this is a bit of a new one on me - I know I'd still have to fork out a sizeable excess but it might minimise the pain. Think I need to read the small print...

Thanks for sharing the information here with me. Keep it up.0
