miniature circuit breakers - advice

I would like to update my old circuit board. One of the downstairs bulbs went and blew a fuse. I had to remove the white coloured fuse from the board and noticed the fuse wire had blown. luckily had some 5amp wire so changed it.

I would like to update the fuses as the ones in are those old type fuses, you know with the 2 'prongs' at either end that fit into the board.

Ive looked on the net but seen a Hager B-type but does not have the prongs to fit into my board. Can someone direct me to where or what im looking for. At present just wanting 2 6amp ones for the upstairs and down stairs lights. Then I can move onto replacing others.

Thanks

If you have an old Wylex board you can get plug in MCBs to replace the existing fuse carrier. Look on ebay. But they stick out much farther and you will not be able to have the cover on it once they are fitted.

In all honesty though it sounds as though its time to upgrade that old board to a modern consumer unit.

Ask friends to recommend a friendly sparks to come and price it for you.

    Cheers

Yes but each case is different or can be thats why I suggest getting a quote. But its probably in the region of £ 300 to include all certification and testing. What nobody on here is going to know is to what degree your wiring and bonding is creaking.

    Cheers

You'll find them on ebay for a Wylex Board or go to your local leccy merchants taking one of the fuse cariers with you. I'm not going to be more specific that that because I don't actually know what your board is!!

It would help if you told us which type of board it is.
