Why irresponsible? Most mouthwashes are alcohol-based anyway. The alcohol in the vodka should, theoretically, have killed any nasties that might have infected the tooth while the pain killers dealt with the pain itself.0 -

Maybe.
I don't think they drank it, I assume it was used as a mouthwash.
If someone is thinking of topping themselves then they WILL find a way to do it.
Hope your teeth are better now, haven't had toothache for years (touch wood) but from what I remember it's bl**dy painful.0 -
I have used vodka for:
Toothache
Drying out spots
Killing bacteria for Athlete's foot teamed with garlic
Used it with lemon juice or juiced melon to flavour sponge cakes and stop them from drying out.
Stain remover.
Team with fresh strawberries to make a luxurious jam.
Keep your ginger in vodka, it will improve the taste of the vodka and the ginger and help preserve it for longer.
Add vodka to jelly to make it more adult friendly for parties.
If I can come up with any more. Will keep you posted.
Hope this gives you a few suggestions Lou 76.0 -
Handbag/leather cleaner. Wipe all over with a cotton wool pad. You will be amazed at the dirt that comes off!
I regularly add Vodka to tomato sauces, it's delicious!0 -
Co-incidentally I've just sent out OH for a litre of vodka to make tincture of stinging nettle which is supposed to be good for asthma and allergies. Wash and shred the nettle leaves (wearing gloves!), put in a glass jar/bottle and cover with vodka. Shake daily. After a couple of weeks, strain out the leaves, rebottle and use approx 2ml 3 times a day. That only uses about a third of the bottle so the rest is going towards my Limoncello treat. I'll zest 4/5 unwaxed lemons and put the peel into the rest of the vodka, again for a couple of weeks. Strain and add sugar syrup (about 50% of the amount of vodka). Leave in the freezer until *really* cold. If the alcohol content is high it won't freeze at all. If you have more sugar syrup, you'll end up with a limoncello 'slushy'. Perfect for summer evenings.0

Please do not use it as a leather cleaner. The 'dirt' may well be finish coming off the leather and on some types of leather it will do serious damage.
Hope this helps

I apologise for being descriptive, and explaining (on a money saving forum) , as to why I bought a bottle of vodka I have no need to drink, and therefore asking for alternative uses, but I do not apologise for being irresponsible.
Apart from missing out a comma, after the word painkiller, what do I have to apologise for?
It's obvious, to anyone [else?] who read the thread, I did not down the bottle. If I had, there would be no need for the thread in the first place.Maybe.

Thank you sb44. I was in agony; hence drastic measures.
Much better now, thanks. :TRosiePosie73 wrote: »I have used vodka for:
