fuses?

Today I was cooking breakfast on electric cooker and the 100amp main fuse tripped out. Apart from kitchen lights no other appliances were in use. The cooker fuse 32A was still in the on position, so were all the other fuses. As far as I know no one else in the area had any problems. I've used the cooker tonight with no problems. Any ideas what may have caused this?

Does the main circuit breaker have an RCD fitted - characterised by having a "Test" button on it?

If so, it's not an over-current trip, but leakage from live to earth. My cooker used to do the same after being on for a while, which was extremely annoying, as it tripped out the whole house every time.

It's ~probably~ a faulty element, though impossible to rule out faulty internal wiring or controls.

Much as I like trying to fix things, that one beat me, and it went to the tip...
