Car License or SORN, risk it??

Hello all,

I am leaving the country for one month as of 2nd May, my car tax runs out 30th April, I will be back on 28th May. I drive a car in which I pay £150 tax per year. Being honest I am reluctant to pay for a months worth of tax when I wont be around to take advantage of it. Can I just declare the car SORN for one month and then tax it when im back? If you apply a few days before the taxt starts are you given a "grace" period by the DVLA or is it literally 1st of the month for that month, if you wish to drive any day for the previous month you have to pay that full month worth of tax??

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

The simple answer is...

If you want to drive a car on any day in a month then that car has to be taxed for that month.

Sorn it on line and get a written copy printed off on line. Do it now. More importantly, it now has to have insurance in place regardless as well as SORN. Make sure that is live. But you'll need that and MOT anyway for when you do get back and tax it.
