Buildings & Contents insurance discount

Hi,
I'm in a bit of a funny situation, I've got quotes for my new flat's contents insurance (the buildings insurance is included in my monthly service charge).

I've got at least one great quote for annual payment for contents only.

But another famous company offers a great monthly (or annual) price - only because if I buy contents and buildings insurance together they give me a big discount - i.e. Contents & Buildings is cheaper than Contents alone.

Is it wrong/not allowed to take this combined insurance, and will obviously never claim on the buildings insurance, even though I already pay for buildings insurance separately?

It's not wrong/illegal: the problem is that you may not have any insurable interest in the buildings and worse, if there is another insurer covering then it may be that both insurers will refuse to pay out

My feeling is that I'd pay any small amount extra. Use Moneysupermarket to get the best quote for contents only and then make sure you use Quidco to get the premium down further.

    Cheers David,
That's what I was thinking - best off not increaasing any future risk! It was strange - they happened to be the best ones from all the insurance scrapers etc, now it's just a toss-up as to whether I pay £110 annual or a monthly one that is higher but with caschback. Think I'm gonna go with the low quote so if it stays cheapest I won't have to switch again net year,

    Tom
