£11280 total per year of which a maximum of £5640 can be in a cash ISA. The amount tends to increase every tax year with inflation.

In any one year you could have 1 current S&S ISA and 1 Cash ISA probably with a different provider. You can add money as often as you like during the tax year (unless the cash ISA is Fixed Rate) up to the maximum.

Each year you repeat the process. Some S&S ISA providers keep the ISAs separated by year with a new ISA each year, some put them all in one pot and you just add in extra money each year.

I had about £10000 to invest, and just went with the best one offering the top interest, as I don't earn enough being part time I also dont have to pay tax on the interest earned. But always remember to make a note on the calender and switch after a year as the interest will go down.
  • thanks for your replies will have a good look at the best buy isa's ,
