Hello all,
please help,
trying to work out what we are entitled to but it is a complicated situation.
We have just had a baby yay!
I work 50+hours a week and earn £24000 per year
My wife has just been made redundant and started maternity pay.
we have filled out all the forms for the child tax credits and recieved £60odd for last year (evie born in feb) they then sent through this years allowance which said £0.00
they are taking last year into account when my wife still worked and not taking any notice that she is now unemployed and just receiving standard maternity.
any ideas on what we can do or what we should get?

the cit off point is now 26k. i assume your wife srill gets maternity pay? even though the first £100 per week of maternity pay is disregarded, your joint income this current year willl be pretty near the 26k figure, so you wouldnt receive much in the way of ctc.0

you need to ring them and give them all the current information and ask them to take this new income into account. i had top do this when my husband was made redundant halfway through the year. they will then reclaculate your award, just be sure to make sure you contact them again as soon as she find another job to keep any overpayments to a minimum.0
