PO guaranteed return bond

I've just been into the post office and picked up a leaflet for this product. Unfortunately I don't have a lump sum to invest, and it looks like this offer will be finished by the time I do, but it looks pretty good to me if you can tie it up for that length of time.

50% of investment at 6.25%
50% linked to FTSE but guaranteed risk free

5 year term with no withdrawals for investments £500 to £1m.

Hope this helps someone...

Pretty awful investment. You should avoid it.

Why not just do it yourself?...put half in a fixed rate account of your choosing (shorter term accounts can get you 6.25% these days) and the other half in a stock-market linked account? You don't need to put it all in a single product to get this kind of deal these days.

Anyway...I don't think now is the best time to start the clock ticking on any stock-market linked account - best wait until the current uncertainty is over as you may well get a better baseline valuation on investment.
