HFC Bank - Reject Letter

Hi

I used the basic letter on the site and sent the £1 but got back a letter quoting a legal ref which said that the Lender does not have to supply details to me becuase the account has been closed!

I used the same letter to Cahoot and they are willing to send me the copy agreement

Anyone know what i can do next to get HFC to send me the original agreement details to see if i was charged PPI?

Thanks

If the account is closed they don't have to send it. You can send them an SAR if you want. They are then obliged to send you all records they hold for you. However lenders don't have to keep records going back further than about 6 years, although many do. An SAR costs £10 and they have 40 days to send you all the records they hold, here's the link.......

Alternatively if you know you had PPI, know you were mis-sold and have your account number then you can just dive on in and put in a complaint either with a letter, the FOS questionaire or using the questionaire on the lender's website (if they've provided one).

That is correct. If you use the £1 method under the CCA then that only applies to open accounts/outstanding debts.
