    It starts when renewal starts.

As for the best thing to do - change insurer - possibly now, or possibly on renewal, depending on what the no claims is like!

I'm the same age as you and had an accident a year ago (1 year NCD) and I pay £350 for the year (admittedly for a 12-year-old, group 6 car in a low risk area).

Norwich Union have never been anywhere near competitive for me so I'm not surprised that they're not for you either.

Heh, I drive a 306 also, albeit a 1994. Your car is a 2000 or a 2001 and will not be in a higher group than mine (could be lower depending on the engine).

I'm 28, zero no claims, no convictions, one third party claim against me in 2006, low risk postcode but not very low, £351 for the year third party fire and theft.

    I'm with Admiral.

If you switch now you'll effectively lose your third year of no claims and would have to get a quote based on the second year. So you would save £80 or so by switching two months early but would then lose that gradually. Personally I'd hold on for an easy life until renewal and then switch.

Norwich Union are just awful! They'll charge you £52 to cancel mid-term. I won't go into my tale of woe with them, suffice to say that my renewal with them was about £700 despite my 7 year's no claims bonus!!

A quick way to save money with them is to do a new quote at "quotemehappy" which will come out a lot cheaper and they'll have little choice but to match it. I had to do this twice while I was with them. Don't take no for an answer, and eventually you'll speak to someone in England!
The only thing about me is the way I walk.

I don't have a problem with them charging that much: they're entitled to set their charges so that they take on the risks they want and obviously they don't like you or me as a risk.

Admiral did so I went with them.

Look on yor vehicle registration document this will tell you the date of registration cos its the first thing you need to get sorted.
If you dont know this you cant get an accurate quote

Most insurance companies will not price themselves competitively on business that they do not want. It appears NU aren't interested in you.
