Don't want to put anyone off their lunch!
Sorry if this is a bit of a strange thread, but i'm 38 weeks with baby no.2. Its head has been engaged for at least two weeks and feels very low.
The thing is, it feels like it is so far down it could come out at any minute, my bits seem to be swelling in the shape of a head!!:o
I was induced with my first and she never engaged until labour, so this is a bit wierd for me.
Has this happened to anyone else, is it normal?? No other signs of labour yet, just niggly pains at night.
Thank you!

I've been feeling like this for a few days, it feels like baby is pushing right down against my bits. I get slight contractions and backache at night but then it stops. I'm seeing midwife tommorow, baby is moving ok, i'm just worried that it could be something else or could cause baby harm0

Sounds like the baby is moving down, as it should at this stage, but your cervix is not yet dilating.
Probably all very normal but do get it checked out if you are at all unsure.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Sounds normal to me. Both mine engaged early and the pressure of them felt like they would pop out any minute, but no such luck!!
As long as baby is still moving about ok and you haven't gone past your due date you should be ok.
Mention it to your midwife next time you see her to put your mind at rest.
Go and have a cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy being pregnant because it doesn't sound like you will be for much longer!!
Best of luck with the birth xx0 -
If you are worried etc phone your midwife thats what they are there for and she wont mind.
Hope everything goes well good luck0 -
yes this is normal!! I had it with both my kids, and when the midwife checked me with ds I was 4 cm dialated without so much as a single contraction so fingers crossed it will be the same thing happening to you! Give your midwife a quick call to put your mind at rest and good luck, the baby will be here soon I'm sure0

Thank you. Its nice to know that its normal! I will mention it to the midwife tomorrow. Hopefully things are progressing, don't want to be induced again like the first time.
Thanks to all0 -

On the information that you have provided it sounds like the engagement of the head - don't think that it is anything other than that, considering that you have felt like this for a while now. I'm a MW, and if you would have contacted me with those symptoms, I would have just given you a quick over, and so why not give yours a ring - thats what we are here for.0
