  • Good luck Flat Eric. Will keeping popping in to see how things are going but don't know how much I will be able to join in as I think we are doing pretty much all we can at the moment on the cutting down and saving stuff. Had been taking part in the SPC but my pot has been seriously neglected over the last few weeks. Must try harder. We will get there.

Well its a few days into the challenge and I'm finding it hard to switch off the "spend" button. My usual friday night is being spent (as per usual) browsing the web because I can't relax/settle for the evening in front of the tv.

I've fallen in love with a purple filofax! $miths are selling it for £15 but its not clear whether you get the 2011/2012 diary or 2012/2013. On the filofax site, its £23 but you do get the up to date diary. Hmmm the point of this thread is to stop spending. Not working so far.

    nb it isn't ordered yet!

A book I bought recently for over £5.00 has now come down in price to just 99p!

That annoys me - I usually stitck books I want on my wish list and check the prices now and then.

I also hate when I could buy a normal recently released book in Tesco for £3.86 (or 2 FOR £7!) yet it will be around £5.99 on the kindle :(

    Hey Flat Eric
I've recently cut right back on my spending and yes, I did feel 'weird' because I leave the house and come back home not having spent anything - no shopping bags, nothing :rotfl:.

It's only been 12 days for me but now I am actually getting a kick out of not spending anything. For example, I took my daughter to a local festival today and I usually would have spent at least £15. I took my own snacks and spent just £1.50 on an ice cream (even then, i shared it with her, I asked the ice cream man for an empty cone and just scooped off half of my dd's ice cream. She's only 3 so she wasn't too fussed :p.

In just 12 days I know I have cut back on frivilous spending by over £200.

I'm not drawn in by internet shopping but how about spending your time online reading money saving blogs, thrifty/frugal sites. Better still, Sell stuff on ebay.

    Hi Flat Eric!

I recently joined swagbucks and earn points which I then exchange for £5 amazon vouchers. I use them to buy pressies for people but it might help you "spend" without actually spending money...
