if i were you i would look at something older and cool that has had the depereciation knocked out of it already.

im always looking at stuff like mercedes 560 sec's and cl500's, you get a 80-100k car for 3 to 8 grand with a bit of clasic style and you can speand the depreciation on petrol etc. oh and clasics will be a shed load cheaper to insure, i passed my test last year and got quoted £400 third party for a 5.6 liter sec, and you can really annoy the hippy tree huggers.

When you're 85 and eating your food through a straw will you remember the £13K you spent to buy a very slightly better property or will you remember the £13K you spent on enjoying your life and all those days spent blasting down to the coast with the wind in your hair?

What does £13K extra get on a house these days anyway - probably an extra fitted wardrobe. How exciting....;)

And since this is a money saving website then get out there and buy one now before the value of convertibles starts to rise - which it does every year from about late March onwards.

why buy, why not just rent (sorry lease)

you'll be better off in the long run, blah blah blah

sorry thought we were discussing buying or renting a home! lol

how come a car gets the thumbs up to buy but leasing/renting one is a no-no, yet the opposite happens when talking about houses! lol

That's actually what I'm restoring, a 1990 560 SEC AMG, lovely car but parts rare eyewateringly expensive. It's being resprayed next month and I've just been and ordered all the chrome bits for the body today.

Well, the theory being that houses always increase in value and cars always depreciate.

There are exceptions to every rule though.
  • Sod it, buy the car, enjoy yourself and you might even find a rich woman who will solve all your money problems! Personally I remember the time I did 85 in 2nd a lot more keenly than the colour of the wallpaper in previous abodes. (and I'm still looking for the rich woman)

Couldn't agree more. No matter how flashy and brand spanking new your motor is, within a month there'll be something flashier and spankier. My next car will be a MK1 Golf GTI convertable
