hi,
today i did a test, not expecting anything to come of it but it was positive!! it was a clear blue digital one which said '1-2 weeks'...i was shocked so went to get another one which also had the same result :-) ...but i also bought a cheapo tesco stick one which is negative?! do you think this is because it was diluted due to peeing to much (lol!) or are the digital ones more sensitive. slightly disapointed now after being excited after getting over the shock!

The digital ones which say 1-2 weeks mean one to two weeks after conception (ie 3-4weeks pregnant) most 'normal' pregnancy tests are designed to test positive after 4 weeks (ie 2 weeks after conception), this coupled with you peeing so much (and drinking loads to manage to produce that much pee) is probably what led to a false negative
Congratulations0 -
The clearblue ones are alot more acurate. So if thats positive that would be more right.
And yes it could be due to diluted pee - thats why they say to do them first thing.0 -
Congratulations! 2 positives are, well...positive!
Ignore the tesco one & test again tomorrow morning with your very first wee, if you want to.
Get some folic acid whilst you're in the chemist, again0 -
As far as I know, different brands will respond earlier than others due to being able to detect hormone level changes earlier. Thats why they often say that you can get a negative and still be pregnant
Unlikely that you would get 2 positives though. So I would guess you are. Steel yourself to holding off testing for a few days if you can and the tesco one will prob agree with the other ones by then
Congrats!0 -
thanks, the excessive peeing was natural and not liquidly enhanced lol! im not actually due until wed at the latest! just saw the test whilst tidying up and decided to do it!0

The digital ones aren't necessarily more sensitive. It depends. As far as I can tell both the Tesco one and the Clearblue digital both detect HCG (the hormone that's tested to see if you're pregnant) at levels of 25mIU (the lower the number the more sensitive, hence 10mIU should in theory give you more accurate results than 50mIU).
A quick google would suggest that others are having false negatives with the Tesco own tests, i.e. you are pregnant but it's not picking it up.
AFAIK, the digi's are about the most accurate you can get and the women on the pregnancy threads on here absolutely swear by them. At 1 - 2 weeks I'm guessing that your period isn't even due yet so test again in a few days. The hormone levels should have risen enough to get positive results with a wider range of tests.
It's also important, like you say, to make sure your wee is as concentrated as possible, so if you've been drinking a lot all day and not testing with the first wee of the day, you might not get a correct result.
Basically, if the digi says you're pregnant, you're pregnant. Congratulations"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

arrrgh i think im excited all over again!! i still have another tesco one so will wait a few days! the reason i'm so shocked is because i have pcos and the dr said i would be unlikely to get pregnant without fertility treatment, so we never used anything thinking it was so no go!!! :-D0
