When are you looking at travelling?

We went to Mauritius last year and it was beautiful, your budget should get you 10 nights in a nice 3 star AI hotel; check out Mercury Direct, they seem to be quite competitively priced.

hi thanks for the link, it didnt work for me, it just stays blank

Can you tell me more about Turkey please. Where would be the best place to stay, how much would it cost? what kind of activities are available? beach etc?

Turkey is a huge country, it has a bit of everything for everyone and it gets very hot in the summer. You would be best sticking to the Mediterranen or Aegean Coast resorts for your first holiday. it take about 3 and a half hours from the UK to travel to Turkey. It has some of the most wonderful sites and ruins, great beaches, food etc. it also has some fabulous water parks, water sports and diving. It is a secular country, but most people are muslim. I have a place in Kusadasi in Turkey (fly in the Izmir or Bodrum) but other popular resorts are Side, Antalya, Marmaris, Gumbet, fetihye. There are lots of fantastic 5 star all inclusive resorts. Here are a few links:

    Also use Tripadvisor for reviews

thanks for that, great info there! but it looks like the hotels you have sent me links to are for families as apposed to just a couple?

Thailand is easily do-able on a budget of £2500 for two for 10 days in September as it's still fairly low season. Maybe 2-3 days in Bangkok and a week in Phuket or Samui.

Flights (including internals), about £600-700 each
Accommodation, £40/night for somewhere nice though you could spend less.
That leaves plenty of money left over for food, drinks and activities.

The beauty of Thailand as a destination is that, once you get there, it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be.

gf has been to thailand a few times , she doesnt want to go there, but thanks for the great info there, i really apreciate it. thanks

When you click on each hotel name and then scroll down you will see a price panel. I looked at one at random, Bougainville I think, the price was £1112pp for 10 nights AI.

As with anything, if you are interested in Mauritius then you should definitely shop around for the best price.

Some other Tour Operators you can check out are: Kuoni, Virgin, Holidays, Thomson Worldwide/Hayes and Jarvis, Travelbag etc.
  • Hi I think you can consider Langkawi Island,Malaysia. Its warm destination with nice beaches. Its actually a large island so there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied for 10 days! The activities include diving, golfing, sailing, island hoping, wildlife sigh seeing, cave exploring, shopping as its duty free destination, spas, waterfalls picnic, sunset cruise, eagle feeding tour, nature park exploring, oriental village visiting, crocodile farm trip, craft complex trip, night life beaches activities etc, probably 10 days is not enough. :p Your budget should be sufficient to visit this location in you plan in advance. You can just google "Langkawi" to find more information. Hope that helps.

Just some examples, of different types, and you can also find lots of little boutique hotels and also traditional pensions if you don't fancy some of the big resort hotels
