Dry, cracked feet/heels - what works!

Although people think cracked heels are caused by dry skin and need moisturisation, this is not always the case. Heels can crack from friction and from moisture. I would see a podiatrist, who can advise on what is causing the problem and on the correct measures to address it. These will be very different if you have dry or moist skin. An appointment usually costs between £30 - £35.
Lisa is right: mine were due to friction and it was agony. THe podiatrist to begin with is definetely an investment IMO.0 -
I have used the following sort of foot shaver for the last 5 years or so;
Google the following....
Corn Cuticle Remover Shaver Blade Pedicure Foot Callus
After I shower I gentle scrape the dead skin away, I do this every second or third day. You need to do this when your skin is still damp. If you gently scrape the razor over your foot it takes the dead skin off. Obviously you have to do it very carefully and I have nicked myself occasionally but I have lovely feet :rotfl: It is important to regularly change the blade. I then use a foot cream that contains 'urea' any brand will do.
I used to get painfully ugly cracks in my heels but since I switched to using this type of product I have no problems at all.0 -
Salicylic Acid was the most fun as you paint it on and you can peel off your hard skin.
Flexitol is good (balm)
Pumice / Ped egg can help
Walking bare foot and wearing sandals I think makes ones heels more rough and prone to painful cracking.
I did buy some of that sea salt scrub but it was not effective on rough skin.0 -
I am a beauty therapist and I use 'callus peel' for my clients who need it - it's great at getting rid of that horrible, yucky, cracked skin. It literally takes no more than 30mins to do, doesn't involve dangerous blades and is much cheaper than seeing a chirop. If you don't want to go for something like the 'callus peel' then try some 'cucumber heel therapy' from CND and pop on some cotton socks with it, it works wonders! x£254/£12,000 challenge... Only £11,746 to go! Wish me luck!0
