Hi
I am finding it extremely tough going trying to get into the site and then into any threads. Sometimes I just give up but even when I try again it is as slow.
Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the same? Thanks.

I did see a message or thread some months ago about they're upgrading soon.
But yes for me and all the others that mention it every day. Not a day goes by when I don't get the 'server is too busy' or 'not responding message'.
What I will say to Martin is, yes people are signing up to the e-mail and he's reach the 1 millionth person but he's still pointing them to this site that's only suitable of coping with half that traffic at most.
But hey, it's FREE and I'd be lost without it so I'm not rocking the boat ;-)
Anybody know were the latest upgrade information/dates can be found?Regards,
Dave

Yep same here very slow again - this happened a while ago and was better after the server upgrade.
MSE gets more visitors now than ever due to Martins good advice and TV appearances.
I find it a tad faster if when you log in you untick the remember me button this way it seems to not have to check your ID ect on every page - I started doing this a while ago and only log in when posting.Aint got a signature - as I cant think of anything world wisely to say.0 -
Can I make a suggestion which might help a little bit?
Restrict the chat boards to a certain number of pages, when they reach this number start deleting the older threads that people are no longer interested in. I think that perhaps a moderating team is needed to do a little 'housework' now and again to get rid of some of the clutter. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
I have been finding the forums very slow, and almost unusable for at least a week now.0

This site is terrible just now, you would think with the growing numbers using it that they would invest in something a bit quicker.
Get with the times Martin.0 -

Excellent idea IMO!:T0 -
Any chance of the MSE office saying something here? I know this "service" is free to use but it would be nice if they could update us if they are investigating it and what is being done to solve the problem.0

The search facility is pretty useless too, so many times I search for something I blatently know Ive seen a few hours before and the search facility just cat find it. Not sure why as I used to be a programmer myself so Im sure there must be a problem in the code somewhere.Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

Guys we are permanently fighting the fire of the site. Frankly if you think you find it frustrating its not even close.
The forum is so busy it cracks everything we throw at it. Most sites of this size don't use a search facility in the forums, as it crashes it too much, but i wont do that and it causes problems. We're investigating using a google search.
The site being slow is simply because we are growing so fast, the site has been under amazing pressure the last through weeks with the bank charges campaign in all the papers. The fact its still up and running is a great tribute.
We are constantly working on improving the speed, and back ground of the site, yet with the huge growth of traffic (currently more than 10% each month) every time we sort something it busts through.
The problem is this site is so big, there's no precedent for the way it works. To give you a clue MoneySupermarket has twice as many people working just on search engine optimisation than we have on the whole site. I'm afraid the 'ethical stance' of the site means I dont have unlimited resources to throw at it. We've a techie team of three, running the 67th biggest site in the UK, and according to big board - one of the ten biggest forums in the world.
Stick with it, we are working on it, and we know when its slow, but getting it faster isn't just a case of throwign 'servers' at it.
