Hi everyone

Any advice on one day car hire for a day trip from london to france? The likes of zip car etc seem to require a yearly subscription and i wont need to hire again so seems a waste of money

Thanks

    Enterprise?
    Hertz?
I rented a van from Enterprise for 2 days last summer to help a friend move house and it was a pain free service...

You'll probably find most UK rental companies prohibit you taking their cars overseas.

Zipcar appear one company that do allow this, but you need to advise them beforehand as you need a 'vehicle on-hire' certificate from them.

Most independents and nationals are quite used to booze cruisers, but most will either apply surcharges and/or wait to see the whites of your eyes before handing over the van. They take a dim view of their moneymakers being impounded and you'd be surprised how often the, "sorry your van hasn't arrived back/been involved in an accident" excuse is used on pick-up day.

Perhaps take a French car back to France for Hertz and bring back a UK car could be an unusual way of doing what you are asking for:
