HSBC Settlement advice

Hi all,

I have finally had a reply from HSBC after 12 weeks in total after emailing the chief exec (thank you to who gave me the details, sorry I cannot find the post to get your name)

I am very pleased with the offer but just wanted some advice if possible.

My claim was for 4 loans and a credit card, but the credit card and one loan was past 6 years and they have said they do not hold details but if I can provide statements they will look into this for me but as a settlement figure I have been offered £6,200 which I did not expect.

The way the letter is written on the acceptance letter that this is a final settlement but only lists the 3 loans not for all 5 does this mean that should I accept it closes all the 5 claims or just the 3 on the letter and should I find statements I can claim on the other 2?

I have searched my house and dont think I have the statements and wouldnt know how to go about finding them and am more then happy with the offer but just wanted to ask advice

Many thanks

It certainly sounds that way. The problem is that the Bank themselves obviously don't have records of this. To be certain, you could write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to the Bank which should provide all details the Bank does hold on you. Excellent template here:

If you send for the SAR do note that the Bank have forty days to respond, during which time I wouldn't sign the acceptance of their final offer.

Your only other alternative is to dig out some statements from your own archive...or accept what they have offered already.

Nevertheless, do remember that this is your own money you are entitled to.
Enjoy your redress and congratulations on your success.
