Credit Card Settlement
Options
Hi,
Hope I'm posting in the right place... I've just posted on the credit card forums but then spotted this one and thought it might be more appropriate.
I'm in the process of sorting out my Dad's estate (currently going through probate) and he has left a number of credit card debts for which there isn't enough cash to pay off in full.
I need to write to the credit card companies to ask if they will accept a settlement figure.
Firstly, I wondered if anyone knows if there is a template letter on here somewhere? I've been all over the site and can't find one.
Secondly, does anyone have experience of doing this and if so what percentage of the debt did you offer the credit card company and which percentages were accepted/rejected?
I'd really appreciate any advice - never done anything like this before!
Thanks
