Ebay adjusting postage cost

Ok I just bought something, and I agreed with the seller a discount on the listed postage from 15 Euros to 10Euros.

When I bought it the listing total was showing postage at 15Euros (as expected I guess)

I have "requested total" from seler and in the message box reminded him of our agreed postage "buy it now" + 10 Euros. I sent this message off to him.

What should happen next? I will be paying by Paypal. Or should I just go to Paypal, and pay him after adjusting the price myself?

No wait for him to send you an Invoice and then pay. In my experience you can not always adjust the price yourself it depends if the seller lets this happen.

How does this happen? Do I get a private meesage in my inbox? or is the price of the listing altered so I then click on the listing in "my ebay" and select pay now....and the price will have been altered?

If you have requested an invoice you usually get an email when they have sent you one saying please complete payment etc. If you click on pay now it will show the new total when they have sent this new invoice. I would keep checking every so often by clicking on the pay now button to see if they have altered the amount due.
    Hope this helps

Wig, if you can adjust the postage, adjust it and pay.

I wouldn't bother waiting for the seller to get back to me to amend or send an invoice.

I'd just pay what was agreed and add a note to say 'here is payment and postage 10euros as agreed' (you get the idea) :)

I am communicating through Babelfish with an Italian, He sent a reply to my first price total query, but unfortunaltely I confused the issue by asking about the total and the 3 EUR insurance that was offered.

His reply only said to ignore the 3 EUR insurance as this was already included (atleast that's what I think he said). Unfortunately he only writes to me in google translated English, so I don't have his original Italian words. When I wrote to him I always say my piece in English then translate it into Italian for him. So he has both versions to work with.

Anyway I decided to adjust the paypal payment and it just took me back to Ebay, and I was given the same screen where you "request a total" so I requested another total, this time making it more clear that I wanted him to change the total.

    See what happens next....

He did adjust the price for me so all is well, he is also a decent seller who feedsback after buyer has completed his part in the contract, so I have now got a green feedback, this seller is top banana.
