When do you get your marriage certificate?

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this?

Reason is that I've had to agree to having a church wedding instead of the beach wedding that I've always wanted. So came across the idea of having a renewal of vows ceremony on a beach on our honeymoon so that we could both have what we want. Best of both worlds! You do need your wedding certificate though so I was wondering if it was possible to get before we fly off on honeymoon.

Thanks

We got ours on the day at our civil ceremony, but I can't see why it should be any different for a church wedding. Best bet is for you to ask your vicar/priest just in case there are differences in their church

You should get it at the ceremony afterwards when you go to sign the register.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Yep, you sign the register and they hand it over.

(if you want to try and keep it nice, try and make sure that *someone* who's going to be there when you're signing it has a bag to stick it in :))

You would be as well having a cardboard backed a4 envelope with you to keep it straight.

    Good idea!

I had just feared that you would need to wait a like a week or something to get it but on the day sounds fab.

Having a church wedding AND a beach renewal of vows means that I'll be able to wear 2 of the 4 wedding dresses I have as opposed to just one!!!!!

We got a fancy silver scroll-holder for ours - meant it would pop into my mum's clutch bag easier :)

I hadn't even thought about this, thanks for the ideas. I'll have to think of something for ours to go in straight after to keep it nice.
Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j
