Hi all,
I have a Kingston data Traveler 8GB USB flash drive and was just clearing some files and it says the disk is write protected.
Can anyone help? I've looked for a lock/switch/slider but there is nothing there, is it a fault that can be fixed?
It won't let me format the drive as I thought that would be the quick solution.

May I just double check whether its saying a file/folder is protected or whether its the whole drive? It may be that the file(s)/folder(s) are specified as read only.
If you right click on the file/folder, and click on properties, at the bottom if there is a tick in the read only attribute, then remove it. The next step if that doesn't work, is to change the security settings, but first lets do the easy bit.0 -
I just plugged the drive back in and it deleted everything! Strange. I'm reformatting it now and hopefully it will be fine.
