permanently delete 'Windows Mail & Live Mail Email Message'

Although I delete my unwanted messages from the above they still seem to be on my PC when I do a search, these go back to 2008 and I have tried all ways to permanently delete them without any success. I have even sought the help of my broadband provider again no success. This is taking up quite a bit of space on my PC and I would welcome any assistance in getting rid of them permanently.
I am running Vista if this makes a difference.
