PPI Barclays

Has anyone tried to claim PPI from Barclays and how long did you have to wait to hear? I filled in the form about 4 weeks ago now.

They have 8 weeks to give you a final response (or to tell you why they need extra time to investigate). Generally they will send an interim letter saying they have received your questionaire, though not always. If you complaint is upheld you may then have to wait a few weeks more to receive a refund although some people have had their complaints upheld and refunds received within the 8 weeks. If they do not uphold your complaint and you disagree with their decision you then have 6 months to take it to the FOS (involves filling out the same sort of questionaire and it's free) and it will then take as long as it takes, month rather than weeks.

No expert but reading peoples stories it seems to depend on whether its ppi for a loan or credit card. CC claims seem to be taking a lot longer than the 8 weeks.

I think it's totally random to be fair! And some people have very clear cut complaints with proof to hand, others don't. One thing which complicates the Credit Card refunds is that the amount of PPI varied from month to month, interest inevitably kept changing and the 8% stat interest is only applicable when the card was clear and this is presuming that all the statements are still available.

Thanks both!! Didn't know about the 8 weeks limit so hopefully I'll hear something soon then.
