Windows Live Messenger Problem

I've just updated my live messenger to the latest upgrade, but whenever I switch on the pc, the log on to messenger box automatically launches. How can I stop this. MTIA.

Click the 'Show Menu' button, up along the top, next to the minimize button.....
Tools > Options > General and then untick the top box

go to the windows start menu -> Select Run -> type msconfig -> Ok .
Select the last tab labelled "startup"
uncheck "msnmsgr" from the list of programs
ok and restart0
