Hi there, I have the QuarkXPress 5 software & was looking to transfer some files across which have been created on Word 2003. Anyone have any ideas?
I have surfed the net & this forum but have had no joy & do not really want to go re formatting all of the fonts, font size, diagrams, pictures etc.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Paul.

You should be to open the word files in open office, free.(openoffice.org) I'm not sure if you can save them as quark but you can save them as a variety of other formats including pdfNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0

Short answer, no. You can import text to XPress, I can't remember offhand if it supports doc files, if not you can save it as an rtf file or the like first. However if you're wanting to edit the document in XPress then you'll have to insert the text, images etc separately and lay it up again.0

I haven't used Quark for quite a while but I thing the best option would be to save the word document as Rich Text Format (RTF) and then open this with Quark.
Hope that works for you.0 -
You cant I don't think best way would be to copy and paste.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Cheers for all the replies. I was looking to perform this re transfering word into an appropriate form for a book I am looking to get published (quite a bit of work to do yet mind!!). I spoke to the publishers who said they will accept it in PDF form. Therefore, I am going to use Open Office and save it as a PDF file.
Many thanks for your replies anyway,
