I can't work out what I'm doing wrong, or if the site has changed...when I am in a thread say in This Site: Questions & suggestions, and have read as much as I want to of the specific thread - how do I get back to the list of threads, where I was i.e. on page5 of x number? when I hit the back key on the browser it takes me back through each page I have read....can be quite a number, or if I click on the link at the top to take me back to the board I end up on the first page again??? I don't always want to read every thread by using the next and previous thread links.

can someone explain what I am doing wrong???

thanks heaps

Murtle

I always hold the shift down when I open a thread or a different board. This makes it open up in a new window, leaving the main board in the same window. When I've finished reading the thread, I close the window and I'm back to the board I started in.

You can have as many windows open as you like. As I'm typing I've got this thread open, the site questions and suggestions board open, and the main board open. All in different windows. As I finish, I will close them as I like.

Quite often if I'm looking something up, I will have more than ten seperate windows open with different pages. Very easy to flick back and forth between them by clicking them on the task bar at the bottom.

    Murtle,

I right click on the thread that I want to open......this brings up a list, click on 'open in a new window'.......the new page opens and the original page remains. Like Rex_Mundi I tend to have a number of pages open at once so that I can flick from one to another easily and close each one as I read it.

This is especially helpful if you are on dial up as you can read one page while you are waiting for another to load.

If you right click on the back button, it displays a list of previous pages, left click on the amount of pages you need to go back to, you may have to do this more than once depending how many pages you went through icon7.gif

You can also get to the board index by looking above this thread and you'll see:-

navbits_start.gif MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > MoneySaving And The Site > This Site: Questions & suggestions > without using the browser back button....

Click where it says "This Site: Questions & suggestions" and it opens a new window with the board index.
