He already has a little box for his aid, supplied by the audiology department, but he's obviously not learned to use it properly yet
If his box is anything like my box, it's pretty useless, if I drop it or it falls out of my pocket anything in it falls out - batteries, cleaning wire and the aid itself if I'm not wearing it.

A small tupperware or clip-lock box would be better - maybe I should look out for a small one for myself!

Having said that, I'm sure my mum's boxes stay shut better!

This is so true! I got myself one of these:

It's a bit too big but I just stuff some tissues in to keep the aids from rattling around. Comes in handy at the seaside, it keeps sand and damp out very well. Beaches and hearing aids...not a great combination :D!

kingfisherblue, I think most kids with hearing aids go through a phase of yanking them out all the time, I know I did. I'm sure he'll get bored of it soon ;).

Yes, his box isn't much good. I'll try a tupperware style box for him. He's always needing tissues, so I can keep his spare packs in the box to stop the aid rattling about.

Thanks Sue and piglet for the ideas

Mrs Arcanum, the children in our area all have their batteries changed on Sundays so that they have a new battery at the start of each week at school. My son's aid wasn't working, but he didn't tell me - I found out by accident on the Wednesday and I don't know how long it hadn't been working properly. I thought it was the batteries, but it turned out to be the aid itself. It would be great if he had the knowledge and ability to tell me when his batteries need changing, but he has a learning disability.

Piglet, thanks for those links - I'll order on Monday. I'm not sure which to get yet, I'll have to consider which is most appropriate for my son.

There is a very annoying beep when the battery runs out but perhaps in your situation this is no use. :(
