I need some DVD-RW discs. Can anyone point me to a low cost source for them? I understand Tesco's are cheap, but are they any good. Should I buy branded ones and if so which? Any help appreciated.

Just try one of the many online retailers. My vote goes to SVP. Superb prices and service.0

Just a 10 - pack initially. DVD-RW(V)+RW it says in the manual, so guess it's both types, but I am new to this recording media, having been on VHS up till now. They recommend DVD RAM but my son's DVD player doesn't play them, so need DVD RW.Omid wrote:How many are you after?

Well i have some Philips Branded ones, 4x. I bought 50 in error and there is now 40 left. If you are interested let me know and make me an offer. You can PM Me or email me (ommid@hotmail.co.uk) I can post for you today.
+RW is much better than -RW and is a faster technology across the board. e.g 8x-R is available but most +R are 16x capable.0 -

Just because media says it can record @ 8x, 16x etc doesn't mean you should! The faster you burn a dvd, the more likely you are to encounter bad burns. Regardless of the advertised speed, I always burn @ 4x, gives more stable results.
As for what brand to go for, can I suggest Verbatim from svp http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2180 -
True but with discs like Verbatim and Philips the dye is of such a high quality that it will handle high speeds with ease. Bit like a crap car and a good car.0

Not always true , as said above quality of disc is the important factor.
Burn a good disc ( Verbatim , Taiyo Yuden etc ) at various speeds and then run the discs on the read speed , PI PO and CRC tests in DVDinfo software or similar and the best results will quite likely be on the discs burned at the higher speeds.0 -
