PPI Help Please

Hi hopefully i've asked this question correctly and in the correct place.
My mother took out a cash loan through British Gas which included insurance, who am I writing to? is it British Gas or the name of the Bank at the bottom of the statments that she receives - sorry don't understand, thanks for your help

hi, i have worked for British Gas for 8 years and never heard of them lending money - ie loans? when was this done?

Hi she took it out just under 6 years ago I think, i've never heard of it either but her statements are from British Gas Chester Office and at the bottom of the statements in small print is a banks name, i'd be greatful for any advicem thanks

British Gas did do Loans, write a letter of complaint to the address you have on the Statement from BG as they sold the PPI.

Hi Amersall, i wrote a letter to British Gas and I have had a response not from British Gas but from Halifax Bank stating that the account number is incorrect, which it would be as it is a British Gas loan account number. Theres no phone number on the Halifax letter for me to contact the person and explain so i'll have to write again asking them for a phone number to contact them. I didn't send them the letter so I can only assume that British Gas have forwarded the letter onto them (maybe they've taken over the account - i don't know)!! I'll keep you informed but looks like i'm getting the run around which I suppose was expected

It is possible Halifax have taken these accounts over.
Hopefully this will be found and they will look at the claim.

Not getting anywhere at all.
Halifax keeps asking me for their account number! but it was taken out with British Gas and when I give them that number they say it's not valid. What shoud I do? Should I go to the next stage?

British Gas (BG) don't do loans themselves.

However Centrica, who own BG did do loans through Centrica Personal Finance Ltd (CPFL), based in Chester, who no doubt did so under the trading name of 'British Gas'. CPFL has since changed its name to the Automobile Association Personal Finance Limited. Their head office is in Halifax, and it's likely that they have nothing to to BG-Centrica any more.

I would send the complaint to AA personal finance, they may have the Loan details for this.
Give them a call and ask if they can find you first, explain it was through BG and if they cannot help you, they may know who can, BOS gave the finance for these Loans, but even if they found your loan, they could not deal with the claim as you claim from the company that did the finance.
