New Boiler Quote

Hey all
My boyfriend and I have recently moved into our house. It has one of the back boilers which must be a fair few years old as it has not been keeping us that warm in some rooms. We also had radiator leak and cause damage within the 1st week.
due to this we have decide to get a new boiler and most probably new radiators and pipes. Just wanted to ask you guys what you thought of this quote from an independent.
They would be installing a new ValiantCombi Boiler and moving the boiler from the chimney in the front room to the loft(due to there being no external walls for the flue to go out), removing all the old pipes, tanks etc and inserting new ones and replacing radiators. This has come in at £3500.
We think this is pretty good but want to double check on the price
Thanks all!

without knowing details it sounds a very good price, but personally i wouldn't put any boiler in the loft, you will have to board the loft from the hatch to the boiler, a light if you haven't got one up there, you have to deal with a possible freezing prob ie pipe stat frost stat etc, if it locks out or you want to change something on it then you have to get up in the loft (do you really wanna do that after a nice warm bath & a cuddle in front of the tv), the installer will have to fit a vertical flue anyway (unless it is going on a gable wall) so all it will take is a couple more flue extensions, so if your installer is doing the job correctly take off the price of the loft boarding, frost stat, pipe stat & possible lagging costs & that should nearly cover the extra flue costs.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Post the full spec for comment.e.g. model, number of rads, brand of trv, copper or plastic pipe etc. See what a boiler quote should include etc here. The standard of the specification and your location in the UK will impact on price.
What do your other quotes look like?

Seems like a good price to me, we had a new combi installed a few years ago, and all radiator valves changed ( not new radiators ) and that was for £2600.0

And with the Combi in the loft, it will be remote control, so no need to go in the loft to change settings etc.0 -
so is it ok using the old radiators? as i've just had a quote for 1150 for the boiler and the thermostat things on the radiator and the dialer and 500 extra for the radiators, in Derbyshire though. But like i say its 500 cheaper without the radiators and the quote includes replacing the valves. Also are Valliants any good as the reviews are scaring me:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

No reason for you to have to have new radiators when fitting a new boiler, unless you don't like the look of them.
Vaillant are an ok boiler, but aftersales service is one of the worst in the industry if you should ever need it.
Whatever you do make sure the system is properly flushed and a magnetic cleaner fitted, such as a Magnaclean or Fernox TF1 as standard.0
