Hi, hope everyone is well
We've just moved to a new house with 2 living rooms. We are using the bigger as our main room and the second room as a nothing room really.
We don't need a dining room so thats out, we have 2 settees in it at the mo and a big coffee table. We also don't need it for an office as we have one. There is only 2 of us, no kids as yet.
Anyone got any ideas?

A friend had a similar situation to you, turned one into a formal lounge and other into a home cinema/ entertainment room.
I have seen on tv, some people turn a room into a sort of night club/pub.0 -
I've got my Wii on the Tv in the second lounge so i can bounce around out of the way.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

My parents have two lounges - the front one is the orginal one from the time when the house was built and this contains a sofa, chairs and a tv which dad watches as he can put his headphones on (he is deaf but does hear when his aids are in and the headphones are being worn). The rear lounge (extension) gives access to the dining room and front lounge, this has floor to ceiling windows, a couple of sofas and a tv - there is occasionally a craft table in front of one of the windows where mum does her crafting. This room has a great view of the garden and the bird feeders and tables. She can watch what she wants on the tv without disturbing dad plus she need not have the volume so high.0

What are your interests in life? My in-laws are in the fortunate position of having a sitting room and an office each in their house. One of them they keep as the main reception room but fundamentally all the rooms are organised so that they can do the things that they want to do. My m-i-l watches TV and knits, my f-i-l has a chair that eases the pain in his back and his music collection - he hates tv so he hasn't got one. I'd love to have a separate reception room for my wife - somewhere that she can go to and listen to music that the kids and I wouldn't mess up every few minutes.0

I would have one room as a general use room with a tv, games console, home cinema or whatever your general interests are. Have that as a room to use on a daily basis.
The other room would depend on what your interests and hobbies are. I would be drawn between using it as a lounge area with music just to relax or a room which is always clean for when guests are over. Otheriwse just use it as a storage room to keep the rest of the house all neat and tidy.
If the two rooms are next to each other why not create a through-lounge with some folding doors in-between the rooms, if costs isn't an issue ofcourse. It will allow you to open up your living room into a larger area whenever you need to."Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0 -
Ive got 2 living rooms as well, we have one at the front of the bungalow which have a open fire with tv, computer, and sofas etc, we tend to sit in there of a night.........
The other room is at the back of the bungalow south facing with loads of light and a view over the garden with bird feeders etc, so we use that room during the day................0
