(Un)Co-operative bank £200.00 incentive.

Has anyone else experienced the (un)co-operative bank hanging on to their £200.00 new account incentive as if their very lives depended on refusing you the money?:(

Ive not had mine yet, I did ring last Friday 20th April to see whats going on and he said some were failing to be picked up by the automatic procedure. So he passed it onto a team who would check I'd met the criteria and credit the £200 within 5 working days. I've not had the money so far this week so will follow up this Friday 27th.

I opened an account with the Co-Op last October. In November I asked if I opened a second account would I get the same incentive - answer yes. So I transferred from First Direct who have been absolutely excellent to a second Co-Op account. I am having a battle royal to get my £200 x 2. I have just today received £200 for the first account but nothing on the second. I would not have transferred from First Direct if it wasn't for the £200. When you ring First Direct you get through to a person immediately, none of option this, option that rubbish, can email any query and get a reply within 48 hours (normally sooner by any method you wish) and have a £500 free overdraft facility. With the Co-Op they dont ring back when you eventually get someone at 13p a minute! Overdraft is £200 on the plus account and nothing on the basic and you have to WRITE to lodge a query or complaint! Not happy!

    isnt two breaking the t&cs
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

You don't have to "write to lodge a query" and you don't have to call a 13p a minute number. 0845 is free from most landlines with inclusive calls, and if it's not use saynoto0870.com for a landline number.

If you were told you can do it twice then I can see why you'd be annoyed and you should follow it up, but it clearly goes against the spirit of the promotion.

Believe it or not someone i know is working on this in the CO-OP they are actually working on it backend and identifying accounts.

they use a system to destinglish who is eligible and who isn't.

He said the money gets paid to branch who then distribute it. could be an issue with the system not working correctly?

Its going to be more of an IT issue that they are working on. i know this because i know people who work there and have told me this.

I opened an account with them due to the £200.00 insentive, money was paid out as an overdraft. Overdraft cancelled and account has been closed down since.
