Ford paintwork

Did anyone else know paint work on a new car is only under warranty for a year? We have a focus c3 we bought from new and is now 18mnths old. The paint round the front grill has started to peel off and flake. I took it back as it would appear to be a manufacturing problem to which I was told I had to pay for the repair as it was over a year old. I would have thought paint would be expected to stay on a car longer than a year! After a lot of arguing they agreed to pay 80% of the bill but I don't see why I should pay anything if it's a manufacturing problem. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Or any advice?
Thanks

Here is a link to their warranty info, as they are offering to pay 80% i suspect they do realise the maybe liable for the full cost,or maybe the 20% you are paying is enough to pay the full cost of a quick repair job
Looks like the paint only has a 1 year warranty, did you notice anything before the car was 12 months, was the car serviced by Fords as maybe they should check this at its first annual service

You do have the SOGA to fall back on, so if you can indeed prove that the paint defect is inherent to manufacture then you should be getting the repair FOC along with all associated costs.0

All new Ford (UK) cars come with a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.
Paint is included in that warranty.
Please do not be confused by the base warranty terminology. Essentially all Ford cars worldwide are covered by a company base warranty for the initial 12 months.
Additional warranty is dependant on territory and the market forces that involves. Ford covers the additional period of up to 3 years/60,000 miles for genuine UK vehicles by adding Ford Protect (which gives the same cover as the base warranty)

Furthermore, the manufacturers warranty is given in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
