Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Not raining here atm, but the sky looks full of it, yesterday it did not stop for a moment, I heard somewhere that we are in for a month of this.
Off to work today, and egg and chips for dinner with beans, I also have a Mr T delivery coming tonight.
DD is really enjoying her placement, and one of the young Autistic lads has a huge crush on her, and follows her about all day, bless him.
OK better get on.
Hugs to all in need xx

Good Morning Redruby and all to follow
Have actually woken up to sunshine
at the moment......
Lots to do today, loads of office work loads of housework. Work phone calls took over yesterday so not much else done.
Nothing much else to report, but thats a good thing really no trauma :rotfl: Oh one thing, ages ago sent off a PPI letter for a loan I had some years ago that had PPI on, I did cancel the ppi after a couple of years but yesterday received a letter from them confirming they will be issuing a refund within the next 6 weeks :j All it took was the MSE ppi form and a postage stamp. When it comes through it will pay off my tax bill so am very pleased with that.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight, as there is no rain at the moment can go out to the garage and have a rummage in the freezer.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Not raining at the moment, but sky looks heavy and it's forecast to start later, like most of the country once it starts it will be in for the rest of the day! DH up and off to work early but not stupid early, he brought me a nice cuppa in bed before he left.
Work yesterday was nowhere near as busy but just steady, so managed to get caught up with all the bits that didn't get done on Monday and Tuesday - now on days off, and am tackling the washing, drying and ironing mountain, then all the general housework etc.
Had a bit of a croaky throat Tuesday night and yesterday seemed like I was going to loose my voice, but seems somewhat better today - it doesn't particurlary hurt and I haven't got a cold or any other symptoms so hoping it doesn't turn into anything else. One of my colleagues kindly told me that the flu bug he had over the Easter weekend started off as a sore throat with no other symptoms, thanks mate thought you was my friend!!
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, cauli/broccolli cheese, carrots, green beans and gravy, good winter warming food, seems so cold here again. Tonight will be spag bol - DH mouth not hurting but still tender so am doing soft food at the mo.
Will be tackling the never-ending "to do" list - need to get jobs done as after this weekend - we're away quite a few weekends - and if the weather stays as forecast there's going to be lots of muddy kit each weekend we get home - so washing load is going to be a bit heavy! I always felt we were going to pay for a nice dry warm spell so early in the year and not a particurlarly hard winter!
Will be putting another load in WM in a mo, and will have to use TD as heating is not on in the day.
Reading Essexgirl's post I'm awaiting a refund of PPI quite a sizeable cheque too, can't quite believe I will be getting it until it's in the bank!!
Need to crack on.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all!!
I did not sleep last night!!! We've £40 to last us till Monday and I was worrying! Can't come home and see the dog in my lunch break today and tomorrow as don't have the fuel left to make 8 trips, can manage 4 and then don't need my car till money though. Pup should be fine, I'll leave him access to the garden and the telly on. Or see if OH can take him tomorrow.
Got NO fresh fruit! Or frozen for that matter, so need to allocate some pennies to that as I'm living off bananas at the moment.
Got enough food in for dinners, maybe some potatoes needed and milk. So it is doable, just not great. Still our fault for not budgeting properly.
OH's brother's birthday today, He's not getting a card or anything from us, OH agrees, he doesn't deserve anything.
I started the application process to become a RSPCA inspector last night...not sure if I will go through with it (if i get accepted) but wanted to see if it was at all possible.
Spag bol for dinner tonight, and picking a bits for lunch.
Hope all the poorlies are on the mend

Morning all
I had a lovely 3 days in Edinburgh with my 2 friends. We flew up Monday morning so got there for lunchtime. Went sightseeing, shopping and exploring on the Monday. On Tuesday we went to the zoo to see the pandas
they were sooo adorable! The zoo was a fab day out, we spent 5 hours there in total. Lots to see and do for grown ups! On the Weds we went to see Hollyrood and explored the Old Town, before flying back at 7pm. We were lucky with the weather, only had a few showers Mon and Tues, but it did rain most of Weds pm. We stayed in a Travelodge just off the Royal Mile. Perfect location. The whole trip was very MSE, it only cost us £77pp for flight and 2 nights hotel, and we used lots of vouchers when eating out.
Diet completely went out of the window whilst I was away
so will be right back on it today. Need to go food shopping later.
I'm meant to be off work today but may go in for few hours this afternoon to sort some bits out. I need to go to uni to hand in my assignment and hopefully meet with my tutor if he has remembered!
OS wise - I have loads of washing to do but it's raining so it will have to dry indoors which means putting the heating on
. Food shopping to be done so need to make a list, got a £3 off £20 spend voucher for Tesco.
Have a great day all
