Pay Pal Problems, What's an Echeque

I've had a paypal account for years and pay for all my ebay goods with it.
I've just paid for something tonight and the seller has contacted me as he doesn't want an echeque.
I can't see a way of cancelling it and I've no idea why my payment has gone as an echeque, whatever that is.
Any advice would be appreciated

I think an echeue is if you've got limited funds in your bank. Paypal write a 'cheque' and give it to the seller. When money goes into your account to cover it the cheque gets released into cash.0

If you normally pay with credit card funding, it probably means your card has expired.
Basically you end up paying with an echeque when there is a problem with your primary funding source.
FYI, the seller can't legitimately reject your echeque - everyone's meant to accept them (in the UK)My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
There isn't a problem with my bank account, there's enough money in there.
The payment is for hatching eggs, thats why it's instant payment only.
I found how to cancel a payment but when I followed the link it said "No" as it was being processed!0 -
Seller needs to reject it then... I think. My TV is broken!

Thanks, I'll email and ask them,
I've had problems with ebay and direct debit recently, wonder if thats anything to do with it.0 -
The seller can refund it, even though it hasn't cleared - I've had a few and when I've notified the buyers of the delay (got one on Friday which has an estimated clearing date of 13th March  ) they've asked me to reject it (ie refund it) and they've attached a CC to their PP account; e-cheques are created when you have a bank account as your only, or primary, funding option.I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

Thank you for that, I thought it was ok to have just the bank accounts funding paypal
I've been thinking of credit cards and bank accounts as the same thing for paypal, so never worried when cc expired.
I'll try adding one0 -

I sold on eBay saying "payment within 7 days" etc and only via paypal - the bidder paid but it came as an echeque because there weren't enough instant funds available to go through as a standard transaction. Bidder didn't realise but all I did was to say she would have to wait for the echeque to clear into my account (it shows the date on the seller's paypal as to when the funds will likely clear by) and then I would send her the goods thereafter which she said was fine.
Your seller will obviously get the money and it might be that he just thinks that you've deliberately gone about not paying instantly which isn't the case or he may not even know why it's come as an echeque or what it means.
I know when I first saw that my bidder had paid by echeque and it would take 10 days to clear, I was all "what the heck?!" as I instantly thought they were trying to pay with a format I didn't accept or couldn't accept.0
